Freshers’ Social 2014; Lunglohtui & ‘Happy’ M.Z.U

And this is our Freshers' Programme. I took an hour to design, posted and shared in facebook and whatsapp for P.R.

Banner displayed in campus to attract students, to make the most of its first time screening before it is released

Freshers’ Social

It’s Friday, 26th of September 2014. Freshers’ Social 2014 here in our University organized by the Mizoram University Students’ Council 2013-14 was memorable and a special occasion for me and M.p-a(Editor, Students’ Council). I was delighted to see fresher’s as well as my Batch mates and seniors already present before 1:30 p.m almost seated-full while the event should commenced from 2:00 p.m onwards. It attracted lots of students maybe the impulse of the big information that had been broaden; the screening of the new ‘Happy MZU’ music video produced by the Department of Mass Communication (2013-15 batch) which features almost every department students within our campus.
Inside Multipurpose Hall, 1:30 p.m, we also have at the side, out of the frame, seats filled by students who are outgoing & our batch too.

Mr. Zothankhuma(I.R.S) Registrar, M.Z.U accompanied by Fela, our Jt. Secretary and Usher
R. Vanlalhmangaiha, our Council's Vice President

Chaired by our Council’s Vice-Preseidnt Mama, the first session could have been boring; instead our University Singers truly lighten us in between speech from Dean, Registrar(Chief Guest) and Council’s President.

A day before I spent my night, the only deadline which I couldn’t extend my creativity anymore up to this, designing for Miss & Mister Freshers and 24 Department Gold Medalist Certificates. And off for print; fulfilled with no mistakes.

The above picture in line, four of them I took photos for the magazine which I made use for designing this.

Half of them appeared here to collect their Gold Medalist Certificates, distributed and short felicitation conducted by Fela, Council’s Jt. Secretary. Ruata, the outgoing President of Students’ Council in his speech advised the freshers’ to get involved in more activities with also seeking the purpose of being here, education to set as their top priority.

Lunglohtui

When the most awaited speech arrived from our Council’s Editor H. Lalmuanpuia about the success of bringing out to publish Lunglohtui 2013-14 (Annual Magazine) I, pompous by his aspiration when he start admiring for all my actions which was far beyond my earn. I was called out to hand over to Chief Guest, our magazine for publish. This happened to be the first time ever that magazine had been successfully published on Freshers’ Social. Last year’s magazine was published this year on July. Let this not flow as an offense for the previous Editors. I want just to let know the necessity of constant effort to matter deadlines, we hardly enjoy exam holidays. But I realize closer the truth that there is complete rest in hardworking and sincerity. The great responsibility is as we stepped out to stand up for representing all our friends here, it is an honour to accomplish our task right in time.

Speech from the Editor, H. Lalmuanpuia

Glad to see some of our Juniors from Pachhunga College. Big guy with glass, sitting at the side, secured topper in Mizoram in Humanities stream, he deserve to get congratulate as he is one of our closest supporters as Students' Union during College.

'Let it Go' from Frozens animated film, sung by one of our admired Singers in our College days, now she join University. Its loving to hear the charming voice once again, I also found her improved and more confident.

‘Happy’ MZU

Many a times we kept watch over a male or female student alone or both male and female student’s together host in most of our functions. I came up with the idea by which my dear Council members comfortably agreed; getting two female students to host this Freshers’ Social second session together, the period of light programme. They made me happy, because the two gorgeous had nailed it!

C. Laldinfeli,(3rd Semester) Dept. of Mass Communication

Most of us may well be familiar with Pharrell Williams ‘Happy’ Music Video which became viral, happened to be the most successful viral ever. During our preparation of this ‘Happy MZU’ video when I came across the internet, there were already around 2,000 videos on youtube produced from diverse countries and states. This grand success brought Pharrell Williams wept out of ecstasy during an interview with Oprah. I want to thank for uplifting the image of our department and M.Z.U to :- Video & Editing – Puia & Joseph, Behind the scene – Zothana & Lawmkima Tlau, Over-all in charge Puitei, Awmawmi, Rinthari, Rebec, Ruth, Sandy, Sangtea, Amos, Dini, Pushpa, Mazara, Bazle from their brilliant ideas which we always had gain. And also my deepest gratitude goes to the faculty of our department for their support, experts feedback and advice. And extend my gratitude to every M.Z.U fraternity.

Here I shall extract a piece from Lalnunkimi Colney’s(1st Semester, Mass Communication) article in ‘Silhouette’ pertaining to our ‘Happy MZU’ music Video with a bit interview of me.

--              After visiting over twenty departments around the campus and spending many late evenings and nights in the department’s production room, the third semester students of Mass Communication present to you the much awaited Happy MZU Music Video.

Happy by Pharell has been making huge waves all over the world with cities and countries adopting the song in their style and now we, the students of M.Z.U have one in our own style.

The Mass Communication students worked on this video from the end of August till mid-September. To shoot the video, they used Canon 550D and 7D camera along with other equipments from the department.

We asked Reuben what he thought of the video and the process they had to go through while shooting and he said, “We are happy with the cooperation of different departments while we were shooting the video., though we came unexpectedly without any warning or prior information, the students participated eagerly. Also, it was a success because of the harmony between the hands that worked behind it, the third semester, Mass Communication students.”

He talked of how they had to put in a lot of work behind the scene, saying that they still had to attend regular class but put in extra time by staying back after class and, during the final edit, two nights were spent at the production room.              He also mentioned that they hope this video uplifts the image of Mizoram University and encourage more students to join this happy, cheerful place and bring better unity among the M.Z.U fraternity.

It Looks like success is on the radar because in a few days, the video has garnered over 3,000 views in Youtube. Check it out for yourself!!!!

Few Description of why this magazine (Lunglohtui, 2013-2014) is special.

I can’t express in words my gratitude for being a part to publish another Institutional magazine. The first was back in Pachhunga University College, Buannel(2012-2013) with Sir Henry Lalmawizuala and Jessy Laltlanzauva. Buannel was also considered one of the finest in terms of content, photograph, layout design and overall standard. We increase colour & black & white pages. I firmly believe that this is the one ‘most money spent’ magazine in the history of our College and among any institution here in Mizoram.

Focusing to the point, I am afraid the thought I needed to express harms someone. But I would like to let know that we all need improvement, students of tomorrow will overtake us in doing and bringing something new and which is supposed to be the way. We should learn to understand each other in this short life. In the past years, we saw M.Z.U magazine, it came out well sometimes but the other times it wasn’t. Now I realize it just lies on the term held by the Student Leaders. If they had good Editor, their works blossom, highlighted in magazine well, if the Editor is free of corruptions.

The name of the game, no, the name of the magazine and in other words, likely to be called yearbook of our University, ‘Lunglohtui’ was composed seven years back when the General Body Meeting, University biggest event where any students are free to express their opinions and views for any issues of our University was held and in one of the Agenda, James Ramdinmawi(editor at that time) proposed to named the University magazine to ‘Lunglohtui’ permanently. Majority agreed him, got it approved.

This year’s ‘Lunglohtui’ has records, many to mention but, I am afraid that it will go as much praising of our self Deeds, for our benefit while it is just we did for the image of Mizoram University. And hence, let me allow at least its two nature of why it is special. We strived hard to the possibility of binding the magazine in hard cover. But we think many a times, even thinking we were sure clear cut ekdam pakka 100%! Before the day we send to Guwahati, we almost declare to erase our idea. However we finalise the idea of our project. So, here it is in our hand, the first among all Institutional magazines in the state Mizoram bounded in hardcover. And the latter, adding the number of coloured pages to 68! Although this is not the first among the institutes of Mizoram, it is, among the magazines produced in Mizoram University. This is the most difficult part for the Editors as it is the greatest temptation for corruption because even adding just one colour page cost too high when the copies has to be more than thousand. We usually saw around 30 pages taking average of our magazines. This I want to mention for the hardbound only, funds has been added to which we accomplished after agreeing from all Students’ Council members, Dean, Vice Chancellor, Financial Officer, Dean Financial Officer, Asst. Financial Officer etc etc. I also extend my deepest gratitude to all of them and the Editor H. Lalmuanpuia, my classmates and parents, all P.G students of 2012-2014 and 2013-2015 batch as you all are my inspiration and success to materialize this dream.

With big assist of hand from my friendsThe following week: Time for magazine distribution(More ‘piece of informal’)

Receiving best wishes on our achievements of our magazine has been a great privileged for me and M.p-a. Now, all magazines has arrived so we distributed them, permissions were given by our department H.O.D and concern teachers to whom I shouldn’t forget to thank. And my classmates and S.C members Jacob and Zorama who helped me carry those k.g’s of hardbound magazines and contributed their vehicles, I also ‘hawl chhuak’ my Dad’s and Mom’s car. I am happy we covered numerous parts of University in distributing than we originally predicted. The less rest, who didn’t get the magazines yet, I shall distribute finished just in a day with two/three friends without taking much time of others, as ‘time is money’.
